Has a political yard sign every helped you decide who to vote for, or changed your vote?

Yard signs don't change my opinion about anything except my neighbors.

No. I hate them and wish they were against the law, along with political bumper stickers. They're ugly and they make neighbors fight with each other. They tempt children into vandalism and trespassing... and they tempt adults to want to hurt the kids who do it.

And even though every election the people who put all those signs along roads and down the medians swear they will remove them promptly... the signs always stay up for months, getting uglier and uglier as they age.

And those #$@&%$ election signs don't change any minds at all. So as you can see... I HATE 'EM!

So what you are saying is you will emotionally come to a conclusion simply by seeing a sign and immediately sum up that person without even informing yourself as to why they may have that sign out. Kind of like hearing the first bit of gossip, not checking its validity and then coming to a conclusion on it. Kind of like listening to a politician and accepting everything he says as truth simply because you like them. Good to know.

I wish I had thought to add that as one of the choices in the poll but boy does it ever cast neighbors in a different light

Yard signs are a huge waste of time and money, because generally nobody cares what others think, especially unknown people with yard signs. I suppose they are a good source of business for the printers though...

They have never changed my opinion, but people have the freedom to display them, and they should be able to display them without others stealing them!!! That goes for all sides, supporters from every avenue whether it's a Presidential Candidate or a State Proposition are guilty of doing this and it's immature and wrong.

I think they can be seen as belligerent or as comforting and unifying. Either way it's not polite to talk about politics with strangers

It's an interesting question.

I like them for local elections because half the time you have never heard of the person challenging the incumbent and it is a good place to get name recognition and then you go find out about the candidate. I did it this year because we have 4 people running for mayor and I only knew about 3 until I saw the sign at a festival.
