ST. PAUL, Minn. - The man picked by the John McCain campaign to run the 2008 Republican National Convention resigned Saturday after a report that his lobbying firm used to represent the military regime in Myanmar.
The operative saying back in the Watergate daze was "Follow the money"! Thirty-five years latter, not a bloody thing has changed, except the $$$ amounts and the level of dirt-bag politics!

Leader of GOP convention quits after Myanmar ties reported - Yahoo! News (broken link)

Yeah, just another example of how the whole "guilt by association" B/S cuts BOTH ways.

The fact is, pretty much ANY politician has all kinds of people that they know that have skeletons in their closets. This is true of both Obama AND McCain. This is because your average politician has business dealings with THOUSANDS - perhaps even TENS of THOUSANDS of people - and the vast majority of those folks have not been vetted. Some of them are BOUND to have embarrasing things in their backgrounds. That is NOT the fault of the candidate - and yet people (including MANY right here on this board) play the same old smear game of guilt by association.

The Guilt by Association smear game - and those that play it - are is as about low as you can get.

My rational for posting this story was not to cast aspersions on Sen. McCain, but to illustrate how money is the common denominator in the world of politics! BTW, I plan to vote for Sen. McCain in November, he's the only candidate that has his head screwed on tight and is a fellow Viet-Nam veteran (4th Infantry, 1967-68).

Yeah, I know. I wasn't picking on you.

I have to say that one of the most inspiring things I've heard this election cycle came from Huckabee, who when Sean Hannity of Fox News tried to get him to condemn Obama for Wrights sermon, said something to the effect of: "You can't hold a candidate responsible for the actions and opinions of those around them. You just can't". The fact is, if that's your criteria for selecting a candidate, NO ONE will pass the test.

We are in full agreement re the candidate's control of people in his (Not PC!) campaign! BTW, Sean Hannity is a clown! When he's on with ex-Speaker of the House, Newt (What the hell kind of name is Newt, a salamander!) Gingrich, I expect to see him under the table "taking care of business"!
