Actually there I might disagre with you, if.. and only if.. we are talking about creating a national infrastucture for light rail. The federal governments authority is interstate commerce and infrastructure.

You have very little confidence in the next administrations abilities, because any figures posted now have little relevance towards "Bush" because companies are now beginning to plan for the next 4 years. (Businesses run budgets yearly and plan quarterly, usually a quarter ahead, meaning 6 months)

The least you could do is give Obama some benefit that him winning the election wont cause a 25.9% unemployment rate..

Not unless all the bigwigs close their companies in protest and send us all home.

No, the 25.9% unemployment is a result of the Bush economy. It took FDR years to clean up Hoover's mess in 1932, the same it will be for Obama. In fact, Obama's successor will get the credit for a return to economic growth (if we do indeed return to prosperity).

I know you are absolutely hoping for such a number, but it is not likely to happen. Go back to the Carter admin for figures like that.

Hoping for the US economy to go down the tubes - how very sad to have to wish for such a thing.

I would move back there in a flash, if they seceded.

I don't hope for the economy to tank, but I am also a realist. It seems a lot of people here are taking an 'eternal optimist' attitude. I am very fearful about whats going to happen in the next 6-12 months because I know its going to be the worst we've seen since at least the Carter administration, maybe even Hoover's.

There are few if any places in America with a 25% unemployment rate right now. The only places this would be true would be the worst ghettos/****holes in the US. Places like Camden, NJ, East St. Louis, IL, Gary, IN, or maybe Detroit, MI.

Now that's a strawman argument I can get down with!

Does anyone actually believe unemployment is going to go higher than 8%?
