Unemployment here in San Antonio is at 3.6%. OKc leads the nation with a rate of 2.9% so where in the country is doing so bad? Detroit was the worst "large metro with 6.9%.
all April numbers.
IDK about where you guys live but San Antonio went down even further in May.

But what about all the areas that are not large metropolitan areas?

those figures are only for those foolish enough to think that the gov't is telling us the truth with its made up figures that suit its needs.
No, the 25.9% unemployment is a result of the Bush economy. It took FDR years to clean up Hoover's mess in 1932, the same it will be for Obama. In fact, Obama's successor will get the credit for a return to economic growth (if we do indeed return to prosperity).
Your citing of Hoover displays your lack of knowledge almost as much as your unemployment figure.
If you were going to blame a president, you'd blame Coolidge-- although it wasn't his fault. Freedom is the choice to make bad decisions, and most of America was making them at the time. If you were going to credit a president, you'd credit Hitler and Hirohito... but not FDR... unless you're referring to his part in helping destroy Europe which made them unable to compete against the U.S. economically... That's what saved us-- The whole world needed our goods.
The reality is, just like now, Americans were involved with speculative real estate investing (comparable to our recent housing bust), stock market speculation (401K, anyone?) and there was a severe drought. (It's been years since I read on it, so forgive me for what I forgot.)
I know you are absolutely hoping for such a number, but it is not likely to happen. Go back to the Carter admin for figures like that.
Hoping for the US economy to go down the tubes - how very sad to have to wish for such a thing.
I would not hope for the economy to collapse anymore than I would wish for another 9-11. Hopefully, none of us would go to that extreme to prove a point but I have seen a few "wait and see when we get attacked" scare tactics which come pretty close to wishful thinking.

I bet you believed those same calculations when clinton was in office.
It is the same.
