Crystal, Here in New Jersey the government is up to its ears in corruption and has been for years. Yet voters in New Jersey keep voting for the status quo over and over. Its very frustrating how either uninformed voters are or just how stupid they are.

Because most people only care about what Britney Spears is doing or who Angelina Jolie has adopted. The country could be collapsing around them, and most of us would rather be watching NFL on Sunday and eating fatty foods all day.

Because most people are freaking LAZY. They don't want to have to think too hard, so whoever gives the best soundbites or looks the best on TV wins elections. The issues don't matter. If they did, Ron Paul would be the runaway favorite for the presidency.

I think because most Americans do not want to face the truth.

Most Americans still believe America is wealthy and do not have any poors living in this country.

If people are faced with the truth they might get depressed.

Here is some of the truth:
America is poor
Our money is worthless
The country is in a Recession
Politicans are corrupted and only look out their own people then once in while they might throw us a bone for us to continue voting for them.

America is poor is a generalization with no merit. there are poor parts of America.
Our money is worthless is an exaggeration. The value of the dollar has decreased because of the run up in oil prices.
Recession is debatable. Need a definition attached.
I 100% agree with the last one. To me its the people in office not the American system.

Because to many americans vote for "Whats in it for ME?", giving politicians no incentive to tell the majority of americans the truth. Many dont want to hear that we cant afford things like national health insurance and other various government programs. While we might get these programs, this doesnt mean we can afford them.
