Pretty crazy, but if Obama's proposals get passed, people w/o insurance, including illegals, will get freebie healthcare that surpasses what the rest of us are paying thousands a year for:

"Care for illegals is the biggest unmet medical need in our nation, and Obama's program targets it squarely. But do we really want to give them federally paid coverage equal to what US senators get, as Obama proposes?"

Maybe we 'legals' should just go to Mexico:

Look illegals are HERE like it or not. If we don't help those sick and uninsured, that creates public health hazards. When Americans go overseas and get sick, we get treatments at no charge - no questions asked. How could we be proud Americans while turning sick people away from hospitals?

What we should be focusing on instead is the immigration policy that would reduce the number of illegals.

Obama said "47 million Americans." Illegal aliens dont qualify.

This is an old Dick Morris article that's been thoroughly debunked. The day after he published the article you quote he had to issue a weasely, backtracking update protesting that his numbers could be kind of right if you looked at them a certain way. He never brought it up again.

P.S.

"Americans Are Worried About Health Care Costs. The problems with health care are well known: it is too expensive and 47 million people living in the United States lack health insurance."

John McCain 2008 - John McCain for President (http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/19ba2f1c-c03f-4ac2-8cd5-5cf2edb527cf.htm - broken link)

retrieved 8/24/08

Hey, Obama said "Americans," McCain says "people". Hmmm.... The hyper-right Washington Times frowns on McCain's POV toward illegal aliens:
The Arizona Republican now says that, in the wake of last summer's defeat of "comprehensive immigration reform," he has "gotten the message" that the border must be secured before the status of illegals already in the United States can be dealt with. That's fair enough.

But it doesn't give Mr. McCain the right to shut people up when they ask legitimate questions about his immigration record — which includes cosponsoring legislation to permit illegal aliens to pay lower in-state tuition rates denied to some students that are in the country legally, supporting Social Security benefits for illegals and voting against an amendment last year that would have permanently barred gang members, terrorists and other criminals from the United States.
Washington Times - Sen. McCain and illegal immigration

That's an old article, but on his website he's still a Pal to the agri-Businessman. He does propose that all illegal aliens - excuse me, his site says "undocumented immigrants" - be required to "enroll in a program" to resolve their status. Well, that sounds not only doable but cheap for the taxpayers! Excuse me, John's Friends.

Here is an article for you and we need to end it. Why are 70% of the babies born at Parkland Mem. in Dallas, a hospital that has been ranked one of the top hospital's for the past fifteen years, born to illegal mothers? Of that 70% that are born (15,000+ babies per year) why are tax payers footing the bill? I paid around $1500 for my first kid and $16,000 for my second as he had to spend a month in NICU. I have insurance but that was my 10% portion for each. These illegal's are not paying a dime. NICU babies can run up a tab very quickly. My son was there for a month and his bill $160,000 after the break from the insurance company. He was considered an easy case as he had no surgeries, no oxygen after the first day and no incubator, he just came two months early, so imagine the bill if he was critical! Illegal's don't receive pre-natal care, they don't take pre-natal vitamins, they don't change their eating habits and daily routine to insure for a healthy baby. Wake up America illegal's are robbing us blind and getting the same or better care than you, and you are paying for all of it.
snopes.com: Parkland Memorial Hospital and Illegal Immigrants

People go without insurance because they chose to. Insurance is not an entitlement. I pay just under $500/month for a family of four, and i am self-employed so I pay the entire bill for my coverage and it is the best coverage I've had. No co-pays, drugs are less than $5 and I don't have to be farmed out to a specialist by my PCP.

Why is this an article for me?

Shouldnt it be an article for McCain supporters?

Would you prefer they continue to use the emergency room of hospitals for their health care?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,150750,00.html
Overburdened by the uninsured and overwhelmed by illegal immigration (search), public health care in Los Angeles is on life support.

Sixty percent of the county's uninsured patients are not U.S. citizens. More than half are here illegally. About 2 million undocumented aliens in Los Angeles County alone are crowding emergency rooms because they can't afford to see a doctor.

According to the State Association of Hospitals (search), California's public health system is "on the brink of collapse." In Los Angeles County, patients can wait four days for a hospital bed and up to two years for gallbladder surgery.

Many think it would be a refreshing change to have a very intelligent President who understood the complexity of the challenges we face instead of another four more years of impulsive quick and to the point answers without really thinking about the ramifications of the issue.

We are getting socialized health care no matter who becomes pres. We will not have unlimited resources to care for all so we should start to think about how will it get rationed. Will care for a 30 year old illegal be put ahead of a 60 year old American?

That is a very good question that will probably be addressed after it has reached a crisis stage.
