If that is the case then why is his own wife saying, and only in relation to Hurricane Gustav and other "such events", "As John has been saying for the last several days, this is a time when we take off our Republican hats and put on our American hats."
Is it only in time of tragedy and despair that we are Americans? Once the Gustav situation is handled do we put our party hats back on? I understand the sentiment behind the message, but if we are talking about crossing party lines, being Americans and putting "country first", we should also be wearing our America hats in regards to a few other "events" going on in America right now. I don't know about you, but my America hat has been on since day one....and I never plan on taking it off. It ain't reserved for emergency use only.

I don't think Paul is more 'American' than McCain...but it's a shame not too many people knew anything about him other than those on the internet. He could've been a very powerful candidate if he would've gotten out there in the main stream.
