Yes there are people pointing fingers at those who had to foreclosed or lost thier homes. Not everyone is equipped to be self employed, not every has the education or job skills to change careers. But that is neither my point what Im saying is there are other factors that come into play as to why people are losing homes. Not everyone is greedy and buying homes they cant afford, at one time they could, theri credit rating dropped or whatever reason why they couldnt refinance. No one is sayign lets write a check, but everyone is saying there has to be something done. Either way taxpayers are paying for it...either through the economic crisis, lost of stock values, home depreciation, higher food and utilities costs, more people going on sec.8, schools cutting back on education funding, activities etc....Some of you on here make it seem like people are purposely going out and spending out of their means. Yes it does happen but to lump all homeowners in that category is just wrong. No matter how you look at it we all are going to pay one way or another...just that you need to figure out if you want it to be corporate, Government or the helping out fellow Americans.

Oh, but you are saying write a check.. Every darn time I hear the boo hoo sob stories that all americans face, people losing jobs, people losing homes, people losing insurance, people cant work because they are single parents and no one to watch their kids, etc, you do ask someone to write a check. How else do you expect the plans to be paid for unless you want someone to pay for it?

Sure, you write a check, gosh no.... but asking others to do so.. why thats completely acceptable.

Last time I checked the US was a capitalist Democracy. What you advocate is Communism at the worst and Socialism at a minimum. That is why it is wrong.

From what I have read, the main reason many people are losing their homes is because their ARMs are readjusting to the higher rate and they no longer can afford the payments. The initial lower rate was just a teaser, but they either failed to realize the rate would go higher or counted on rising home prices to help keep them afloat. I suspect these are the majority of people in trouble.

you know what is ironic about this? the state overvalues the homes to collect higher property taxes, now the federal government is going to lower prices?

Actually thts a point.. the Federal Government actually is not lowering the prices, they are keeping them artificially high through the bailout process. Bidens statement does now lower the value, just what the homeowner has to pay..

The question is why aren't they trying to resolve this without the gov't and the tax payers.

Why isn't the gov't demanding that the banks come up with X number of solutions and the gov't decide on what's acceptable before they (the gov't) jump head first in with OUR money?
We are in total agreement on this one. Choices would be a good thing. I just think that most politicians have a really hard time choosing between yes and no.
Can you imagine if they had to choose between A,B,C,D....
This could go on forever!
