Perhaps the most important thing in the daily gallup poll today is not the Obama 7 point lead or that Obama is still treading within 1 points of his high but:

McCain has hit his previous recent low of 42%. The last thing either candidate wants to do this close to the election is to establish a new low and Senator McCain is close to doing that and needs a boost soon.
Gallup Daily: Obama Leading by 7 Points

The debate is not really factored into it yet.
Tomorrow I expect to see Gallup showing Obama up another couple of points.

Ken

PS - Remember a couple of days ago how the folks on the Right were crowing about Obama's loss of 4 points in the Gallup poll over a couple of days? Now those points are almost all back in Obama's camp - and the RCP average (of polls) is higher yet.

It's good to see the low point in the poll during the low point in his campaign.

It's 7% in Rasmussen (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll - broken link) too. He not only needs a boost soon, it might already be too late.

The McCain camp certainly seems to have lost its steam. Last night's debate didn't hurt, but I don't think it will necessarily help much, either.

What will the McCain camp do? They pulled out of Michigan--a bad sign. Obama seems to be gaining good momentum.

If McCain "amps up" the attacks on Obama, it could backfire. If he puts Palin out there more, it could also hurt. Is he doomed to lose? I think the answer could be yes. We shall see.

Nah they are rolling out Wright, Ayers and Rezko ads in key states. They are starting to go ballistic. Question is will that remind the American people how that same strategy got us Bush twice?
