Florida has many Jewish voters. Much of their vote leans towards candidates with favorable credentials towards Israel / AIPAC.

Joe Biden is considered one of the best persons in the Senate relative to Foreign Policy matters. As such, does Joe Biden stand high enough in matters pertaining to Israel to attract Jewish votes for the 2008 Democratic ticket? If so, will it overcome John McCain's current slim lead in Florida, which has 27 electoral votes, enough to swing the election?

EDIT: Was the selection of Biden a shrewd move on the part of the Democrats / Obama Campaign?

Default Fl is a lock in my opinion

I say yes. But i'm not happy with that. But anyway all along i have been saying obama will take this election by taking Fl, Pa & NJ. Lets hope i'm wrong. Obama is basically no change and another 4-8 horrid years.

I don't think so....Bubba HUSSIAN Obama is running for POTUS...regardless of who else is on the ticket...HE would be the Commander in Chief.

Not going to happen.

Before you all go jumping off some cliff...I am ONLY stating a fact. I did not name Bubba.

I'm very pessimistic about Florida. I think the Jewish vote will be all for him but it is a very large state - the gulf side is solidly red except for downtown St. Petersburg...

I disagree with your basic premise, Mike.

I think that if you polled these folks you would find their major concern, far above all others, is preservation of social security and medicare.

My parents live in a huge condo complex that has many retired jewish folks, and all discussions are about medicare (and their latest personal medical procedure), and making sure social security isn't privatized.

They should like the Obama/Biden position on Social Security, which the platform calls for making stronger, and against privatization.
Details at: Barack Obama | Change We Can Believe In | Seniors

Medicare would be safe under Obama/Biden too. The platform calls for more competition in drug prices and assuring that all people have access to decent health care: Barack Obama | Change We Can Believe In | Health Care
