Because she's smart and capable and Obama knows it.
She'll do a good job for him.

Yup, you got it. The brightest and the best. She and Bill are well liked around the world and with Richardson in Commerce we begin to link trade and foreign policy the way it should be linked. Tim G is a great choice for treasury and there are stories that Larry S will replace Ben B at the Fed when his term is up.
Clinton is smart, capable, and she has the country's interest at heart. She'll do a great job.
She'll do fine. Even most of her detractors admit that she's a capable and determined woman - a force to be reckoned with - and she's shown time and again both in the Senate and by campaigning for Obama, that she's a team player. Those folks on this board who constantly complain that she's just power mad and out for her own benefit really underestimate her. True enough, she is ambitious, but so what? You don't rise to positions of power and responsibility WITHOUT being ambitious and she's smart enough to know that you don't rise in power and responsibility WITHOUT cooperating with others.
