C'mon, be honest--don't you snicker at the fears that people would change their vote just because they happened to pass by a rally for a candidate on the way to the voting booth? Don't know about anyone else, but I've never met anyone who's that fickle or that much of a pushover.
It's just their desperation over loosing the election. Their candidate(s) were perfect (in their eyes), so must blame something else. Never mind that a senile old angry fool that went for the gutter, and a stupid redneck twit from Alaska were their disaster team. They lost because of early voting.

Or did they loose because more people voted because it was more convenient to vote

Votes are counted by Sunday and on Monday we celebrate the outcome, our right to vote, and give thanks to Veterans who made it so and have kept it so. Seems like a cool idea, but it will never happen, makes too much sense.
I like this idea. It's practical, and also is an appropriate way to honor veterans.

Amen. But it'll never be allowed in this nation. Big business, retailers and other vested interests won't let anything stand in the way of running "sales extravaganzas" or get-away trips on 3-day weekends. Veterans are only useful to those types if it makes money for them. As usual, all most veterans get is lip service.

This is where creative marketing comes in!

The stores could try to lure shoppers on their way back from the polls.

"You've voted, now celebrate being a good American by doing something really patriotic: Buy something!"

The hotels could lure travelers by arranging for voting stations to be placed in the lobby.

"Come see our beautiful mountains... and local residents can enjoy voting in comfort and with a gorgeous view. Need something to do while your wife visits the spa? Now you can vote! Ladies, send your husbands out for an extra round of golf. No need to be bored, you can vote, vote, vote!"

The repubs put up a battle in Oregon when vote by mail was under consideration. They wanted to make it inconvenient for low income citizens to cast ballots, many of whom are dems, working two jobs, and some not owning cars. Although we have an admirable public transportation system, it is still difficult for these people to make the time to vote. It's also a boon for disabled persons to vote in the comfort of their own homes.

It would be nice if more states had same-day registration.
Some people would argue if you really cared about voting, you'd get your voter registration form/forms in by the deadline and others would argue we should let all who want to vote....vote.

Yeah, it is peculiar that they "don't trust the mail" for voting but they trust it for paying taxes. Nobody demands that people go to a special tax collecting station to pay your taxes, nope, when it comes to money they think it's safe enough to just pop it in the mail.
