Yup, it's sad--every four years, it's the same, seems like I always end up doing a lot of eye rolling sooner or later with the confirmation hearings. It's not enough to keep Geithner from being confirmed, though, which I suppose is the important thing.

Since the vast majority have held or currently do hold national security clearances, your comments seems sort of... well stupid, for lack of a better word.

Oh no, not hiring an old college pal! Well that does it, by gum. The nerve, hiring someone he knows and trusts. If he isn't willing to hire a stranger who answered an ad in Craig's List, I say it's time to tar and feather him.

So we've moved on to another line of attack.

Anyway, which "old college pal" would that be, certainly not Dartmouth, John Hopkins grad Geithner?

Apparently this is not the issue that the OP thinks it is. He worked for the IMF for awhile, and they didn't do taxes the way that is normal for Americans. When the problem was discovered, he paid the taxes with penalties.

The housekeeper was legal when hired, but her papers expired while she was employed - and she wasn't employed that long.

I've read this much, and I don't know the full truth of either issue. But I know that if arctichomesteader and ELO are jumping up and down about it, you'd do well to ignore it.

LOL, or it could be Michelle.... haven't you heard Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell accidentally announced she was a candidate for undersecretary of defense? Sounds like cronyism to me...
