why do white people always try to determine what somebody else is.
obama has said over and over that he identifies as black. end of story.
if you do the one drop rule, there are many whites who would also be biracial because of some black blood in them somewhere along the family line, even though they still appear white.
And why do black people uphold the very same racist ideologies that white people created and put in place to oppress and keep blacks down? Why do many black support and embrace hypodescent or the one drop rule? Hmm
People who quote the One-Drop Rule as their proof otherwise automatically take themselves out of the argument because they're quoting a "rule" that was created by racists and separatists who thought all people not completely white were un-pure.
White racial purity is a myth. Most people in the USA have mixed ancestry. People need to respect how individuals identify. The one drop rule is stupid. Let it go. One drop rule has nothing to do with slavery. One drop rule was legally practiced from 1931 to 1967
Again, varies by region, time period, etc. for example, only 100 years ago, in Ohio, Obama would have been seen as White man. They even put it in their code of law. That is what happened in Puerto Rico as well where more than half the population identifies as White even though the African ancestry in many is obvious. Again. experiences vary by region and blanket statements tend to be innacurate as they hold up in some cases and not in others.
Germans, Italians, Irish, and many other white groups hold festivals in the U.S. to celebrate their European heritage, and fly their flags proudly. How often do you see a Ghanian-American festival in a major city with national flags and authentic cuisine? Of course, you will blame this on the white power structure, but in an age of undying political correctness, that could not be further from the truth. If anything, it's liberal whites pushing these African heritage movement. And it's sad that the black community is focused on much less productive things than celebrating their own heritage.
