In other words, two thirds of other Massachusetts Republican state legislators were more conservative than he was. This is evidence for my claim that he’s a liberal even in his own party. What’s remarkable about this is the fact that Massachusetts Republicans are the most, or nearly the most, liberal Republicans in the entire country!
he is more liberal than most Republicans seem to think. He is Pro-Choice, while he has said he believes marriage is between a man and woman, he believes the current law in Massachusetts regarding same-sex marriage is settled and he does not wish to change it.
And he's also voted to raise taxes in Massachusetts.
Most republicans in New England are more moderate. There aren't too many hardcore social conservatives. I knew a lot of fiscal conservatives when I lived in Mass, but they usually were more libertarian on social issues.

Looks like Scott Brown may signal the return of liberal Republicanism.
