last poster - Excellent summary of the Republican Conservative policies imposed on the US over the last couple of decades. I have not lost any rights to the current Democratic administration.

Besides when has not paying taxes been a "right"? Your private insurance company is already limiting costs by denying care. The financialization of our economy started with the Raygun tax breaks and lowered tariffs. If I remember correctly he was a Republican.

AFAIC the news sections of the media including papers, TV networks, cable TV and magazines should be regulated to prevent the business, ownership and political side from using the news side as an editorial outlet. Let the news provide the news and the rest the propoganda.

Listen good... Warren Buffet said "The Railroads are the pulse of the economy" i have seen good and bad times sonny the last time i saw it this bad was Carter...great humanitarian lousy Prez...as for the Repubs or even Dimos they are all to blame. The Dimos had control of Congresss from before the time of FDR to Clinton ... till he had his little lie scam revealed and the American public voted them out. Over 60 years of the Dimos and their policies to the 10 yrs of the Repubs ?...get real. Every time my town had a down turn it was something Washington did...1930's Social Security...1965 Johnson war on poverty-Medicare...today with this forced healthcare the areas biggest employer GOING OUT OF BUSINESS 1200 JOBS LOST with no buyer in sight because they can't afford the costs or to even pay the fine. It is people like you spreading lies... telling me that all my life was a lie...capitalism doesn't work. Guess that is why i own two houses, two cars, a large nest egg by my hard labor. It is the socialism that has been injected over the years that is hindering Capitalism. So what part of my previous post don't you get? Stay out of my personal business comrade Uncle Sam... health and death are a private matter.

Also GregW my company insurance never denied any claim or illness or surgeries i had...they even called to make sure everything was alright... any complaints...shoots your theory of the big,bad insurance companies all to hell. This healthscam is about O and his mothers pre-conditions...revenge on the insurance industry...and before you go off again i have pre-existing and the insurance provider didn't give me any trouble ... look around the Govt owns 51% of American businesses now,all the housing you see for sale-auctions or should i say the Tax-payers owns...the Govt owns nothing except the blame?

"Govt owns 51% of American businesses now,all the housing you see for sale-auctions or should i say the Tax-payers owns"

I'd like to see your source of the 51% number. I'm not disputing it, I am just saying nobody I know including myself is working for a governtment-owned business. I'll give you GM, but I can't think of another. If they really owned AIG, I doubt AIG would be doing the exact opposite of what the government wants them to do regarding C-level pay.

Also, most houses on the auction block are foreclosed homes where the bank still owns the mortgage, not the government. I don't know how it works in other states, but in my state when an owner doesn't pay his back taxes, its the state or city that takes over the premisis, not the Federal Government.

That being said, Obama is not blameless in his inacivity to solve the economic crisis. Instead of bailing out the institutions that are too big to fail, he should have given most of that money to small and medium-sized businesses where the majority of job-growth occurs. And as for "too big to fail" you have to blame the rabid-deregulation policies of the last three repulbican administrations and the SEC and FTC for not enforcing anti-trust laws that are already on the books.

I love the way some on the right want it both ways: Don't regulate corporations, allow them to merge and become oligarchies so that Americans can no longer benefit from competition in the marketplace, let them become economic giants whose downfall would destroy the American Economy, but then don't help them when they fail. Good job, guys.

I agree with what you said to a point but when the for sale signs says HUD or Government owned in the private community where we camp on weekends. These were Fannie-Freddie loans and a lot of them between Portsmouth and Sardinia Ohio. I remember companies failing... American Motors,DeSoto,Studebaker?... its the rule of the jungle. Clinton eased those regulations too. Oh by the way i worked for a major railroad & in times of War the Govt can take over operations. Our pensions are from the U.S.Treasury we were considered Government employees subject to Federal laws...we never paid into S.S. Railroad retirement is a Govt agency with Govt employees? Mergers or consolidations are never a good thing for workers i know the Southern-Norfolk & Western are made up of a number of smaller roads. You sound like my Union Steward...lollollol.

Believe i read it here on citydata... but if you figure with GM,AIG,BANKS Fannie-Freddie failing and smaller business, people that invest in pensions,401k's,IRA'S that are tied to these too big to fail companies i"am sure it is a big chunk of our economy. So isn't the government then the controlling interest and could manipulate the economy like China does their currency? You have to forgive me i nearly cut off the tip of my little finger 30 min ago...stopped the bleeding throbbing like hell debating getting stiches...

Its no lie what i said its all true except the 51% number in question...and i forgot about Amtrak the postal service ...our government is in businesses business. How about adding the soon to be run government insurance industry? Bet that double-digits the percentage up some wouldn't you agree? Why is it you on the left label someone like me a right winger? Insult me or be mean say hateful things because i have a different view or certain morals? I'am a independent thinker and i don't need the Bill Ayers of the world enlighting me on anything. We are all Americans and should honor each others views and be open minded to help solve our problems and not create more...God knows we don't need any more drama our plate is full.
