Karlovy Vary, the former favorite spa resort of king and queens seems to be popular with German tourists and Russian expats. However, it's still out of the way for Prague-only tourists from the rest of the world.
It also helds an annual film festival like Cannes but more low-profile. I really dig Bohemian architecture, do you think I'll like visiting KV or Marianske Lazne, another spa town in the area? How's the atmosphere there?

No, but from what I remember my father from eastern europe was there during the communist times. Even the name sounds slavic "the evaporations of Karlovo"?

The whole area, aside from the spa towns themselves is very cheap to rent/buy property in compared to Prague. I hope Western expats bring life to the region as it's underrated. Thinking of it, North/Eastern Bavaria itself is very underrated, it's all about Munich for expats/tourists.
