During my trip to Paris earlier this month we had lots of warm sunny weather and I got dry and wanted to have my favorite drink in the world- COKE.

Trouble is at bars and restaurants and shops they only offered a warm bottle that came with no ice. I learned the French word for Ice, (glace) but it got me no where. All they would offer me was a warm soda in a bottle that tasted syrupy and gross. There is nothing worse than warm soft drinks!

Why can't they offer me ice for my soft drink like the rest of the world?

They are not WARM, they are refrigerator cool. Big difference and there are reasons why they prefer it that way. I like my drink chilled, but not glacial. In most cases is also their mentality: a cup half full of ice is cup half empty of soda. Europeans don't like getting ripped off. They don't have free refills on soft drinks, and no one drinks tap water.

People who complain about EVERYTHING should not travel anywhere beyond their backyard...

Why the hell would you order a coke in Paris in the first place? Have a glass of muscadet.

The French word for the ice in soda is "glaçon" (ice cube).

Because I love soft drinks, and they are one of life's special pleasures, as long they are icy cold!

Another thing I missed was the free refill and vending machines where I can get multiple types of soda (with ice). Even in the fast food places there is no refills and the price was double that in the USA. I like it better where I can get my own soda from the machine right in the dining room.

** To the poster who told me that the sodas in Paris were cold, how would you know, you did not get the sodas given to me!

So what people are saying that I am not allowed to complain about travel frustrations in Europe and if I complain then I am not allowed to go and enjoy the things that I do like.

Because Europeans don't glorify soft drinks like here. They prefer a glass of wine, fruit juice or mineral water instead.

Mr "I'm Retired Now" has once again been on his imaginary travels?

He seems to spend a lot of time in Paris, despite hating almost everything about it.

Look at the threads he's created. Half of them are pure imagination and lies. Regarding work, travel, social situations etc etc. I really wonder why he's even allowed to post anymore, as he's been caught lying numerous times.
