It used to be bigger than birthdays, but that´s a long time ago.
Nowadays I don´t think anyone cares much, but it is always appreciated when anyone remembers.
in bulgaria it's not bigger than birthday as you say...but yes there is such celebration indeed. People usually tell each other "happy name day". However no gifts exchanged unlike on birthdays. I am surprised this exists elsewhere! thought it's just weird bulgarian thing lol...

We have Name Day in Norway, but it varies how much people actually celebrate it. I don't. Today (25 Nov) Katarina, Katrine and Kari all have name day. Tomorrow it's Konrad and Kurt.
