No, one of the most artificial places in the world. Disney for faux travelers.

The place is beautiful, but that mass of uncultured, "romantic" tourists that has come there for clichees, makes the place annoying.

I like Venice. I've been there twice, I was just there 2 weeks ago. But I don't think it's as great as some make it out to be

Venice to me it's sort of a been there done that....

Of course tourist brochures will sell it as "ROMANCE MADE CITY" but reality is other

-MASSIVELY LOADED with annoying tourists taking pictures, you cannot even walk!!

-Locals aren't friendly

-Canals smell

-Gondola rides with the italian signing opera and the two lovers kissing it's a cliche and an overpriced tourist trap

-It is not all that to be honest

Venice is truly awesome if you don't visit it during the tourist season. Last time I went there was 2 years ago in the beginning of December and liked it a lot.

I really liked Venice, but I was keenly aware that I was one of hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting that day. Unlike Rome, where you know there's loads of tourists, you can always find something off the beaten path. I didn't feel that way in Venice. I would like to revisit again, but in the low season. Still, it's a very beautiful city.
