Not true. I am 37 and a huge fan.

I was 17 when the whole techno wave came over Germany.

Downtempo. Slow beats with massive soundscapes.

I knew a Norwegian girl who listened to Christian pop. She wasn't even from the bible belt, but Oslo.

Christian Rock festivals in UK and Europe (partial list) Note: I do not endorse Christian pop music or religion in general :-)

Greenbelt Festival
Soul Survivor
'Ultimate Events' at Alton Towers
Frenzy in Edinburgh
Creation Fest at Woolacombe

Flevo Festival of The Netherlands, which offers seminars, theater, stand-up comedy, sports and movies as well as Christian music from a wide variety of genres, is considered to be one of the biggest Christian festivals in Europe

Skjærgårdsfestivalen, another large festival in Norway.

I'm not a music expert, but I can show you a couple of recent Italian songs that I like (I like quite strange songs...). So that for me also the lyrics are important I try to put also the link of the translations.

This is probably my favorite song in the last year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqhxIQD16EA

Translation of "L'Anima Vola" by Elisa from Italian to English

This song was on every radio last summer, not so bad

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rg_3nf-1u4

Translation of "Logico #1" by Cesare Cremonini from Italian to English

This song is probably my second favorite of last year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzwFATThj1I

Traduzione di "Il muro del suono" Italiano

Do you remember him? He sang for Italy at the 2013 eurovision song contest. He is my favorite young singer in Italy right now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvrJafIrgIA

Translation of "Pronto A Correre" by Marco Mengoni from Italian to English

And finally, the strange song. That one is in the category "I don't know how it is possible, but I like this song".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umUmQgkgFT8

I can't find a English translation about it, so I try to translate at least the refrain. If you are interested it is under the spoiler

Spoiler
Non me lo posso permettere,...............I can't effort it
Non me lo posso permettere,...............I can't effort it
e non ci devo riflettere,......................and I don't have to think about it
te lo dico a chiare lettere,...................I tell you it in clear letters
Non me lo posso permettere,...............I can't effort it
quindi ti dico di no!............................so I tell you no!

In practice the song is about the things that the people can no more effort due to the economic crisis. The rest of the song is a list of things that he can no more effort, or because it's too much expensive, or because of the social situation.

example of some other lines
Stasera niente cena fuori.....................this evening no dinner at the restaurant
non me la posso permettere................I can't effort it

Credo nell’onestà...................................... ..I believe in the honesty
la disillusione non me la posso permettere..... I can't effort the disillusion
ma la bici l’attacco, quattro catene................but I lock the bicycle, four chains
troverò un posto per metterle......................I will find a place where put them

(like to say "I'm a honest person, but I can't trust the other. If I don't want my bicycle to be stolen it's better to lock it with a chain")

I live in Spain and my favorite type of music is Indie/Alternative rock which is very popular in much of Europe.
However i agree with the poster that said that the most popular music genre in Europe nowadays is Electronic. Look no further than the numerous and highly popular Electronic Music Festivals that happen throughout Europe and you'll confirm that.
There's a lot of popular subcultures in Europe though as it's expected. Here in Spain i would say the most popular music styles are in that order: Electronic/Pop, Latin music, Alternative Music (something Americans would call adult contemporary, think of Gotye for example), and then Rock, Rap/Hiphop, Reggae..

One of the first bands who used Twin Guitar Melodies

My favourite band and imo also the best band to ever exist.
Iron Maiden

I started to get into Heavy Metal, thanks to Motörhead

My favourite genre is Thrash metal

That's enough for now
Nobody here will share my taste anyway.
