Lausanne is a very beautiful and picturesque little city by lake geneva and I'm sure many people would consider it "romantic".
The problem with Lausanne is that every direction is uphill. For a romantic little town on Lac Leman I would suggest Yvoire. For a nice larger town, I would suggest Evian.
My unforgettable experience is the view of the Alhambra in Granada.I know little english to explain
my feeling.-
My son spent a year at University in Granada. While the Alhambra is magnificent, Granada has much more to offer than just that. The old town is fantastic, the cave dwellings very interesting and there are great and reasonably priced restaurants.
Cannot even start to make a list for Italy, so I'll stick to the classic Gran Canal view in Venice with the Rialto Bridge on the background.
Yeah, and suddenly some British tourists puke on your feet, American tourists shout in your year, Japanese tourists take a picture of you, Finnish tourists jumping into the canal and Russian tourists asking the way to the nearest blini bar. Really romantic.
So, therefore my answer, and the only correct answer is: wherever my special one and I are the only tourists.
Any city or small city with few tourists, ubeda and baeza, for example.
