You know, the late semiliterate, pseudointellectual, (perhaps now waning) 'star' with that silly grin, whose surname seems to be taken from the American pioneer who bestowed it on a handy knife, and for whose music I don't care. It will be interesting to see for how long his songs shall be played or remembered
In the U K, the state broadcaster has covered little else but his songs or demise. And though I hope that he comes to rest in peace, I'm reminded of the 'passing' of Diana Spencer-Windsor, who was by no-means a princess for me. For instance, a serious music presenter on BBC Radio3 interrupted his show, as though directed to, so as to mumble some unconvincing lines about the great loss to the world of music &c. I would call it overkill. But, in Germany, it seems that that news hasn't been forced onto the people. The internet, shortwave radio or free-to-air satellite TV can free us from this kind of thing
