Of course anything purportedly coming out of Sweden with a name like "Sputnik" would be suspect. I didn't bother to look it up, though. Thank you.

It’s about time!! In the 21st century, individual European countries just aren’t competitive anymore compared to the likes of populous nations such as China, the United States, India, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia, etc. europe can only strive by truly forming a single nation where individual nations share common prosperity and each form a part of a big sovereign country!
Germany, France, UK, Italy can put up quite a fight. Only the US, China and Japan are really stronger economically if we view those countries individually. Population alone does not equal power.

Russia should reform the Soviet Union, and take all of eastern, and western Europe, including Scandinavia. That would make more sense. At least then they would have real borders.

Most of those separate states don't have enough of an economic base to make it on their own. They'd lose all the subsidies coming from Moscow to support the universities, Academy of Sciences branches, and schools, for one thing. And those are major sources of employment. The only area that could make it on its own is Yakutia, which is very rich in gold and diamonds. And even Yakutia voted, in 1990, to not secede, in an internal parliamentary vote; it was decided they should pursue economic development strategies first, so that they could be truly independent, and fund their own institutions.

I'm astonished and bewildered by people who actually take RT seriously. They're out there, believe it or not. Somebody in the Kremlin (not to mention any names...) is getting a lot of satisfaction at turning the tables, after enduring decades of Voice of America beaming in, during the Cold War. And let's not forget "Radio Free-Europe".

Western news sources aren’t always reliable and objective. I think it’s always good to have different news sources.
