Rock star Johnny Hallyday has died at age 74

Johnny Hallyday, France's biggest rock star for more than half a century and an icon who packed sports stadiums with his pumping pelvis and high-voltage tunes, has died. He was 74. President Emmanuel Macron announced his death in a statement early Wednesday, saying "he brought a part of America into our national pantheon," per the AP. Hallyday had had lung cancer and repeated health scares in recent years that dominated national news, yet he continued performing as recently as this summer.

Gee, I never heard of him. When I saw the title on the discussion I almost freaked, thinking it might be Igor Yuzov. But plenty of people are probably just as devastated that it was Johnny. Pauvre homme!

Very Sad - RIP

I knew who Johnny Hallyday was, although he wasn't as famous outside of France, I always thought of him as more along the lines of the equivalent to British stars such as Billy Fury, Adam Faith or even Cliff Richard rather than Elvis. Sad to read of his demise though.
