P.S. In 1878 Russian ruble was not pegged to gold?
It was! But before 1878 the Finnish mark was pegged to the Ruble only. I think the rate was that one ruble was worth 10 marks, regardless of what the ruble really was worth.
Time flies! It feels just like yesterday Finland was a duchy of the Russian Empire, lol.
