My daughter's first JROTC military ball is in 3 weeks. It's semi-formal.
She's 14 and a little body shy . She has the option of wearing either a cocktail dress or her Class A's. I'm leaning toward the dress but I need suggestions on an appropriate style.
Do you or she know what others will be wearing? If others are wearing dresses, and she is body-shy, maybe she could find a simple & understated dress that isn't revealing. I attended a CAP ball at that age and the gals were all wearing dresses--at that time long, prom type dresses. .
My daughter is 14 and we have similar challenges when she needs to dress up. She is not particularly shy, but I do make sure she doesn't wear things that are too short or revealing.
All the high schools just had their homecoming, so you can probably find a dress on sale now.
At her age, for the military ball, I would go with the Class A uniform, she will feel more at ease, and fit in with the other JROTC kids. Wait a few years on the dress. My daughter was a tomboy, in ROTC, and always wore her uniform. She felt better in it. Also it will save you the money of having to buy a dress, shoes, and everything else that she might need to go with it...save the money for something she would rather have and use.

For military balls, the style for cocktail dresses are they should come to the knee or no more than 1" above. No low back or plunging necklines (which I don't think you would pick out for your 14yr old anyway)
I have attended many military balls and have one myself in 4weeks. When the ladies do dress up, they usually just pick from styles that are long, homecoming style dresses. We always have a great time.
However, since your daughter is JROTC, she SHOULD wear her Class A's since it is the more appropriate style for the occasion with her being in the JROTC program. She should be PROUD to show off that uniform.
I need help find the perfect dress for my first military ball but dont know what to find
