I agree. Does look like a painting done for the picture. I think its really nice. When I was pregnant with my kids a million years ago, people weren't taking 'pregnancy' pictures.
Seems to be a concensus of opinion about it NOT being a tat.
This tree with curlicue branches seems to be a theme/trend these days women/expectant mothers are choosing for their nurseries.
I've seen several examples recently. Apparently, it is easy to copy/ reproduce without having to have artistic talent.
A close friend of mine has a wife who just had a baby and chose/did the same type of tree on the wall of their son's room.
If it were a tattoo - the branches would contract: shorter, narrower, and darker. It is already stretched, think of writing on a balloon and then letting the air out.

I wish I had been able to get one done but I was in the hospital for the lst five months of pregnancy and delivered early to boot...

Yeah, I can't look at it because there's too much going on with the paint "tattoo".
