In the 80s there was a notion of a power suit. But today I was thinking about how color can impact how you are perceived and your mood.

Until I was about 25 I stuck to fairly muted colors. In adulthood I did grey, black, dark purple, light blues, and other understated things. I guess subconsciously I didn't want to stand out more than I already did.

At some point I decided to branch out and started mixing in lots of brighter colors and these days I am super colorful. It matched my sunny personality more anyway.

So over the past few years, after a near lifetime of liking purple, I have been gravitating to pink. Fuchsias and dark pinks to be more accurate. I have a punk wallet, other pink small leather goods, pink sweaters and cardigans, pink dresses and even a few pairs of pink shoes. *

I find it to be a great power color for me since it brightens my mood. I am pretty confident on my own. But as a side benefit, I seem to get loads of compliments from others when in pink, another instant pick me up. . I think wearing pink at work also brightens up my colleagues' day as well. Everyone seems friendlier on pink day.

What is your power color and how does it make you feel?

* I can not buy a pink purse. That would cross to far into Barbie/Legally Blonde territory for me. :P

There is an odd shade of blue, sort of a cadet blue but not quite that, that brings out my best. Hard to find, though, and seldom in pieces that I can get much wear from. Cobalt blues, wedgewood blues are also very good on me, as are bright cherry reds and most dark pinks & purples.

Well, when I was a redhead it was definitely emerald green....now that I'm a dark brunette I feel I can play around with color a lot more and lately I've been wearing a lot of teal, bright pink and peach colors. I also have quite a bit of dark green and maroon and far too much black and brown.

I like wearing an entirely black outfit and then popping it with bright red shoes and bright red lipstick. Keeps things interesting

My main power color is white.

It makes me feel fresh, positive, and full of energy. I have lots of white clothing, and like to get pieces with unusual textures. Depending on my mood, I can go monochromatic or I can add colorful accessories to make it pop. I don't care for white shoes, however.

I also love raspberry red. It's mood booster for me, and makes me feel pretty.

I do wear a lot of red because it's fun, but I get the most compliments when I stick in the forest green/dark teal range. And it's boring and cliché, but I do look good in black.

It's definitely purple. I am fair skinned with reddish brown hair and any shade makes me look vibrant, which is hard to do when you're as pale as I am.
