I wear limited make-up. Usually, it's just blush, and lip-stick. But with eye un-made it just isn't working--well enough, that is.

So, I had some questions, and wanted some input . I saw a girl,media-wise, who I thought the make-up job was great. I wanted to try that, or basically something that highlights my face, and actually makes it look good, but not overboard clown lol.

A pic of me. Just an eye, and some hair though. Rest is blotted out lol
Spoiler

Don't wear my hair that way anymore. Now it's straight.

I always intended to get eyelashes put on. The woman there said I needed to get brown, and medium length. She said black would be too drastic.

But this black on this woman looks good to me, and my blonde hair isn't that light.
Spoiler

Just makes the eyes pop, as opposed to the dull look I usually have. I don't wear any eye make-up, because even with good eye shadow, the lashes ruin the effect. So, no eye make-up until the lashes get done.

I was gonna take her advice, and get brown, but I am just wondering it they'll be noticeable enough. I hate mascara, messy and irritating to eyes, so just seems getting dark, thick, lashes cuts out the middle man of needing it.

So, i'd just as soon pay the $75.00 to have the fake lashes applied, but never used them before, so this is a first. So, would brown stand out enough for my skin and hair, or would black be better.

Try choc.brown urban decay eyeliner on the lid closest to lash line, then get an angled eyeshadow brush to smudge it.

Giving the illusion of eyelash line and shadow. Also the lighter smokey eye.

If you don't wear a lot of makeup normally, that will be overbearing. Try to find something a bit more natural.

I agree. OP, the woman in the photo you said you like looks ready for the club. That won't work on a daily basis.

Go with the advice of the makeup pro.

I am not a fan of black mascara on blondes, either. My own hair is a much darker, more ash blonde, than yours, and I mostly wear brown mascara, myself. Black-brown is a common shade in even drugstore mascara, and you can also find a more muted black, a greyish shade sometimes called carbon black, in some lines. These have a softer, less harsh look for women who don't have lashes or hair that is already naturally darker.

The woman you posted is quite heavily made up, which is going to look very strange on you if you jump into it from wearing NO eye makeup. It will look theatrical and heavy and will totally change your appearance. There is little, makeup-wise, that has the ability to so drastically change facial appearance as eye makeup. The woman in the photo is not really rocking a neutral, daytime look.

I don't do false lashes or extensions, myself (planned on doing some for my wedding, but changed my mind and went without), but I have fairly long lashes naturally that are greatly helped by an eyelash curler. If mascaras tend to irritate your eyes, I recommend hypoallergenic ones that specify that they are made for contact lens wearers, because they tend to be gentler, or use waterproof ones that quickly dry and are less prone to flaking off and getting in your eyes.

What color are your eyes? You can usually make them "pop," or look more defined and visible without caking on extreme makeup if you choose shades of eye makeup that appropriately contrast with your natural coloring. I have pale green eyes, myself, and the contrast created between my eyes and dark, smokey shades of grey, dark chocolate browns, and even deep, rich copper is usually fairly dramatic, and doesn't involve tons of makeup...just carefully chosen contrast color. Brightly colored eye makeup, however, doesn't do much for me, and kind of fights with my coloring, because my eyes are already a bright color on their own. I also second the approach of using a complementary shade of eyeshadow on a dampened angled brush to do eyeliner. An effective, but softer, more natural approach than either a harsh pencil line or strong liquid liner. A more obvious look isn't bad, but if you're going from zero eye makeup, baby steps are going to be less jarring and less costume-y looking.

From more than a couple of feet away, you'll get more bang for you buck with eyeliner than mascara/lashes. Get an eyelid primer (MAC and Urban Decay make good ones) and a gel liner in a dark shade, but not black.

I agree with the other posters, a little can make a big difference. I'm pretty fair (naturally a dark blonde with blue eyes, VERY ivory/pale/pink toned skin) and too much black around the eyes can appear raccoon or goth like if you don't do the whole face up, just as heavily. At the level she has done her makeup-- that is going to be one extensive process with lots and lots of product. It's really not a day look, my first thought was she was a porno star or exotic dancer (no offense, there's a go-go dancer who does makeup tutorials on youtube who I adore).

A liquid or gel liner and mascara makes a huge difference. I usually take 10 minutes to get ready in the morning, throwing on liquid liner is super easy and is the one thing I won't skip. I love Lorac's liquid pens, I use the black but brown may work better for you. My eyes are pretty deep set so it helps them pop and I only line the top with a thick line. My lashes are pretty dark but getting shorter with age so mascara helps elongate them visually. I prefer the Maybelline mascara that comes in a green tube but they don't seem to be selling that one anymore where I'm at. Anyways I usually do black or brownish black color in that. Judging from your picture I wouldn't go any darker than brownish black to start... you have such light coloring overall, black can overpower too easily.

OP, before you get eyelashes applied, experiment with eyeliner first. A great way to make your eyes pop is tightlining - here is a tutorial, of which there are many on the web:

GIF Tutorial: How to

Use a gel or water-resistant liner - this technique actually makes you look like you have more lashes. And then apply a very dark brown mascara. There are a lot of problems with those fake eyelashes and expensive. Also, light-eyed blondes don't look right with black eye makeup. Anyway, I would suggest you experiment with some of the advice and techniques presented here before going for the lashes.

Got my eyes done. I went with black. The lady who did it says it looks great, I just need eyeliner, and mascara to make it more natural. But I think it looks good.

Much better than my natural look--doesn't take much to look better than that lol.

But, next time, I think I will get brown. Fakes don't last forever. So, black this time around. Brown next time.

This will take some getting used to. With blonde lashes, I couldn't see them in front of my face, so I can see the black over my eyes. It's a bit distracting lol

Eyeliner will be a chore though. Only wore it once, and it was hell to apply. Of course, not like these lashes weren't, but I didn't do them myself--unlike the liner.

Black mascara on blondes -- well -- for me it's more about the skin color. I'm very light, near colorless -- German British heritage. Black looks HORRIBLE on me. Worked with a woman who was of Mexican heritage -- natural blonde, brown eyes, and her skin -- while it wasn't much darker than mine, her skin had more....life? She really had warmth to her skin, while mine is cool.

She wore black mascara. It just worked.
