Considering that the average is in between 5'9" and 5'10" with 5'9" being the lower end of average with 5'10" being the higher end of average, I think that it's fair to classify 6 feet and above as tall. Could it have to do with the fact that women are insecure over appearing tall at times? If not, then why do they find taller guys to be more attractive?

Generally speaking, women like men who are taller and bigger than they are. So taller is helpful. And sometimes there is a little bit of the feeling that a "taller" man will protect you, it is nice to feel secure and protected.

I think it's because they associate being tall with being manly. But there are plenty of petite women that won't mind going out with a guy under 6 feet. Even some tall women would be okay with it.. I just think it takes some confidence.

Most guys are under 6 feet (80% of them at least) so some would have to settle for shorter guys (short is 5'7" and under with 5'7" being reasonable).

They like looking up and being able to look eye to eye when in heels.
The height generally confers images of strength, stature, prominence.
It makes them easier to find when they want heavy items lifted.
It appeals to women's feline quality of wanting to climb and mount
They enjoy playing St George (riding a 'horse' while 'slaying the dragon')

There's probably more but I think that gets to gist of it.

Agreed with this. It just seems more manly. It's appealing. But it's just vanity though. Some average and shorter guys can be just as tough and manly.

It's like how some women love men with muscles. And some men like women with giant breasts.

Nah... that's average.
Tall is my husband at 6'5" and my son at 6'8".

Tall is quite a relative term. I am 5'11"; any guy my height /shorter is definitely NOT tall to me.

Care to cite a source for that?

I like it generally speaking for the man to be roughly a head taller than me. That's easy enough for an average height (5'4") person like me! There is definitely a too tall though. I think for me 6'2" or 6'3" is already too tall!
