When are these so-called fashion guru's going to "get" the cost savings ,the filling of a cavernous void and (demand) for shorter jeans and albeit slacks? The 29"'are gone first leaving 30" which will need up to four inches tailored for 16-20 bucks!!! Levi's, Wangler, Rider, and Sam member will never listen why? They are mismanaged!!! They won't LISTEN to business folks !!! Fire them now!!!
It's pretty easy to shorten jeans. I have to shorten jeans for my husband, daughter and myself. Each pair takes maybe 20 minutes at the most. I bought an inexpensive sewing machine 12 years ago and I have probably shortened at least 100 pairs of jeans in that time (most years I will buy my daughter 8 pairs of jeans) so the machine has more than paid for itself.
Land's End will hem them to your exact length for free; I think LL Bean might too on certain styles. I gave up on Wrangler's for hubby long ago. I do find Lee jeans for him direct at their site in the 29 inch length.
How about those of us who need 36" and above?
We have zero options for lengthening!
We need longer ones more than shorter ones....
That's my situation! I use to be able to walk into a store and find 36" inseam pants. Now they no longer carry them, so I have to order. That means buying pants I haven't tried on.
I have some old Ralph Lauren Polo pants in a with a 36" inseam. When I couldn't find that size in a store, I tried the Ralph Lauren website. They no longer sell that size.

Clothing companies factor in average measurements when making their products. There's a perception that the demand/share of the market that wears pants with a 29" or less inseam isn't large enough, so most clothing companies won't bother making pants for that demographic.
As someone with a 28" inseam, here are a few brands I can recommend.
Peter Manning, an up-and-coming brand for men under 5'9". They sell jeans and chino pants with shorter inseams, 26" to 29", among other things. They're a bit pricey but they do hold sales a few times a year.
Gap and Banana Republic sell jeans and chino pants with a 28" inseam, but only online if I recall.
I need a 30 x 35. I can get away with a 34" length with flips or flats. Most of my pants look OK with a 35" inseam. Heels? I need at least a 36. I can find them online for 80 to 100 dollars. Right. I really want to spend $100 on a pair of jeans.

Guy checking in, but the principle's the same...
It's true shorter people can easily hem the bottoms. But if the rest of the garment is designed with a taller consumer in mind, they still won't fit right. Jeans--or any trousers, really--have to fit right everywhere or they simply don't look good.
Have you tried Lucky? They have some longer lengths.
