This beauty had a beauty regimen that exceeded fanaticism. A larger article (Wikipedia) describes a physical regimen that resulted in a 18.5"-19.5" waist even at age 60, despite multiple pregnancies. (Note her figure on the horse.)
yes thank you for sharing that .poor thing being stabbed and the corset kept her from bleeding to death astounding . Yes today royalty and celebrities travel with body guards because that is the kind of world we live in these days . Im sure no one thought about it in her time though .
Definitely vain and looks-obsessed. She also hired all of her staff based on their looks, unattractive people need not apply. As she aged, she refused public appearances and photos. I think there is one, taken by an early paparazzi, just before she was stabbed to death. She probably would have gone down the plastic surgery rabbit hole big time if she'd been born a century later.
I remembered reading a story about Countess Elizabeth Bathory when I read this story. Then I realized they were both Elizabeths and both from Hungary. ha. Bathory however, was a monster. https://scandalouswoman.blogspot.com...-countess.html
The German movie "Sissi" staring Romy Schneider is a 3 part story that depicts the story of Princess Elizabeth of Austria. There is an English version called "Sissi - Forever My Love" (same movie but shortened and translated). This movie made Romy Schneider a star. I have seen both the German and English versions. It is a worthwhile watch.
