Just a male curiosity question: Why do women often only tuck in the front of a shirt/blouse just above the zipper, but leave the rest untucked around her waist? It doesn't make sense to me as a male, since it draws eyes and attention to a woman's stylish zipper, but also her crotch.

It's just a style thing. It's more often done with a loose 'baggy' kind of top or shirt, and it gives a slimmer profile.
I see this in clothing catalogs all the time (I think maybe not just women), but don't think I've ever seen it in person. I just always assumed it was a catalog-clothing stylistic thing, but someone told me once that some people really do this.

If you read your post, you will see that you do understand the purpose of the French Tuck.
Actually, today I realized another good purpose of it-- so if you're wearing a belt, the tuck right at that point makes it obvious it's a belt and not a belly pooch.
Personally, I don't like creating a horizontal line that visually widens my waist. But tunics can render me shapeless and boxy, especially depending on what silhouette I'm wearing on the bottom. So the french tuck provides some visual interest.
Hey, anything that makes us look skinny. So no, we have no intentions to show off our crotch! lol
