Do you think very long hair (like hip length and longer) look nice or weird? And what's in your opinion the best length?

There's a woman in my town who has hair almost down to her feet. When at work, she wears it in a braid in back, so it's not noticeable. One day, though, she showed up at the grocery store wearing it loose down her back. She was surrounded by men the entire time she was at the store. I rarely see men approaching women at the store, but they really made up for lost time when she appeared. They couldn't tear themselves away from her. Her hair was blonde.

That picture above is FAR too long. However, I love long hair. My hair IS down to my waist, long and straight. It looks better than that matted mess in the picture above.

Also -- I second what Ruth said -- men do seem to love it.

Too many short haired women these days.. it shocks them when a woman walks in with gorgeous long hair.

I'm a fan of longer hair, but on grown women, myself included, I find anything longer than midback to be excessive, difficult to keep in healthy condition (the woman pictured has a good foot and a half of damage), and generally in the way.

Many will say midback is "too" long for adults, but I don't mind it if it suits the person, their style, and is good condition. Mine is shoulderblade length, currently.

Extremely long hair is always going to garner attention, because it's uncommon.

The OP has beautiful auburn hair that might actually look more attractive and striking if it were waist length. I might even say it could look sensational cut a couple inches below the shoulders, then set in a wave, but I realize how emotional an issue it can be to cut hair too much.

Only if it's kept in nice condition. Otherwise, it'd be like seeing "Cousin It" stroll up.

You may also get attention with a stringly, mop-like rat nest on your head -- but not the kind of attention most people would want or welcome.

No, that's not my picture I've been thinking about growing hair longer than waist line. Mine are dark brown.

I think it's really dependent on your facial features (long face, short face, wide face and/or forehead) and little else and it has nothing to do with being more or less attractive facially-speaking. I'm not just referring to extremely long hair either, any hair length really.

That said, I've met very few people with waist-length hair that didn't make them appear as though it was weight their face down.

My hair is black and just above my waist. My gf loves it. It's pretty uncommon for gay women to have very long hair, especially since I'm almost 40, so when we go to the bar, I get hit on a lot, even when gf is with me. But I wear it long because I like it, and not for anyone else. I don't look good with short hair. My hair is in pretty good conditon overall. It never gets split ends and I hardly ever trim it, probably because I condition like crazy and never use styling tools or blow dry. I just color it every few months to cover tons of grey. The only problem I've ever had with it is that it's pretty frizzy. It's always been frizzy, however, and no matter what I've tried to do to fix it, it doesn't help. Since it's so hot in Texas, I shave the entire bottom half of my hair to the skin. But it's so thick no one even knows it's shaved unless it's tied up.
