Reviving an old thread. We lived in Houston for 30 years so folding is in my wife's mind. I prefer areas not in a kake and assume that flooding is very rare if ever in these areas like center ton and the larger cities in higher flat land? Can anyone shed some light on historic flooding.

Heavy rains do cause some streets to flood. The place you hear about flooding over and over and over again is Johnson, wedged between Fayetteville and Springdale. It's just the low areas of Johnson that flood, not the entire community. The area's creeks, streams and rivers will sometimes flood. Generally, the waters recede in a matter of hours. There are many pictures of War Eagle Mill flooding. You can google it.

Thanks DC. We did not see any grocery stores near the lakes east of Rogers. Is the population just too light or weekend focused to justify or are their restrictions if you happen to know?

Most of the people who live out by the lake work or have other reasons to travel into Rogers on a daily basis, and shop (Harps is there on the corner of Hwy 12 and Second Street, so it's convenient ((but a little pricey although their produce is very good)) and there is a Neighborhood Market on 8th & Walnut that a lot of people use) while in town. There is a Dollar General in Prairie Creek and there used to be a Hilltop Mart (gas station with a deli and small market) on top of the hill in Rocky Branch but I haven't been past there in a while so I'm not sure if it's still there. Farther out, towards Hindsville, there are similar small shops/gas stations where you can pick up things. I don't think there are any restrictions, it's just that people come into Rogers for shopping and other errands.
