I know I've talked a lot about layoffs in my area in other post, but could not pass this one up either. It seems that everyone is laying off. It doesn't surprise me that Wal-Mart is too. Remember that commercial that was so popular with the catch phrase " where's the beef " ?.............
I think the new one should be " where's the change " that we where promised ? I hope this isn't it. I know the guy needs a chance and he hadn't been in long. The changes I'm seeing is people being laid off left and right. I'm sorry but this is a real touchy subject 4 me right now!!!!!!

Inside word is they're trimming "administrative fat".

Stores are still hiring like crazy.

Still doing very good business. AAMOF, better than ever, since a lot of people that would drive 60 miles for a more upscale shopping atmosphere are now hanging closer to home.

I know a guy that works at the Wal-Mart distribution center in Bentonville. Have there been any layoffs there?

They interviewed one of the folks who was let go. His response was something along the lines of - Does Wal-Mart OWE me a job?? No.

Nowadays, we ALL need to realize that the life of living high on the hog is over. If you expect to keep your job, what are you doing to benefit the company you are at? Granted, there are a LOT of CEO type folks who should be canned, but then again what about the entertainers and sports figures who make more in a year than most of us will earn in a LIFETIME??

America is only beginning to reap what we have sown... and I fear the worst is yet to come.

and I hope you are wrong. I know what you are saying, but I think the worst is over. Do I think there will be more layoffs? Of course I so, but I do not think to the extent we have seen in the past 6 months and I do think the economy will rebound in the next 6 to 12 months...This has nothing to do with our new Pres, one way or the other, it is just the valleys and hills, this valley was much worse than the valleys of the past...
