This was a tough one. Oil on canvas, 16"x20". A nostalgic look back to a simpler time. A farmer is baling hay for the livestock. The hay will be stored in barns to feed the animals during the winter. Cows grazing in the hilly meadows in the middleground and pastures, crops, trees and hills in the background.
Hope yall like it.

Great painting! You show your influences, but you have a thing going that is all your own!

Thanks for sharing another beautiful painting. This may sound odd, but what jumped out at me was the tractor tire. Very good light and shadow and detail there.

Hi Kanhawk, I'm a real stickler for detail, most be all my years as an illustrator.

Wonderful, Walt!!!

Bravo!!!

I am beginning to think this is my favorite painting of yours. Although I confess I am partial to blues and greens as far as colors go, I see here a marvelous composition in terms of draughtsmanship, over all harmony, detailed textures, balance, and technical skill. Of course I can extrapolate on the influences I detect of Grant Wood, Winslow Homer, even Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell ... but I am still sincerely impressed with your over all vision and technique.

In my view, your works are improving and maturing.

The thing that really impresses me about this picture that you have marvelously composed a scene that illustrates bucolic loveliness and rural beauty and yet have managed to resist the tendency towards over romanticism and cloying sweet sentimentality. If he was still alive, Thomas Kinkade could learn a lot from you.

If I were to own one of your pictures this is the one I would pick. I would hang it over the mantle in my front parlor.
