My wife is an art nerd and she turned me on to Caravaggio last year. Before then, if you asked me what a Caravaggio was I'da said it was a side dish you get with your linguini at the Olive Garden.

I dig his technique, though. Many of his painting seem to me to have a soft, 3D quality to them. And I love how he paints that amber, sort of difuse light you sometimes see in chruches and whatnot that have sun filtering through the stained glass windows.

Forgive me if my descriptions aren't in proper art parlance; the subject has never been one of my strongpoints. But I'm trying to learn more these days since my wife is heavily into that scene.
