If anyone sees anything promising in this report, let me know.
What is Florida doing wrong? Apparently, everything. How to fix the state? PRODUCE SOMETHING TANGIBLE. Stop relying on the mindset that cramming more and more people in a shrinking space is an economic model. Stop trying to win the race to the bottom on wages. Invest in our ports and infrastructure. Demand more from your elected officials. Quit strangling local communities and local school boards financially. Get rid of the "I've got mine, *********" attitude.

Who am I kidding? This is Florida.

Default One huge positive...

For those with the long view, it is a fabulous time to buy residential real estate in Florida. Mortgage rates are lower than our parents or grandparents ever paid, and prices are in the dumpster. Prices may not have hit bottom, but are likely to be closer to the bottom than to the top. Economic conditions change from bad to good to bad to good...the lousy times are temporary.

Talk about hyperbole. Plenty of states have it worse than us. Seriously, you and this poster should go read a bit more before declaring FL the worst state in the nation....

America's wealthiest (and poorest) states - Sep. 16, 2010

Do you wish we were more like Michigan and Detroit, with one of the worst unemployment rates in the country? Or perhaps we should emulate California? Oh wait --- they have a worse unemployment rate than us too, not to mention the worst credit rating in the country (along with IL) and insurmountable budget deficit. Oh yeah, btw this mecca of liberalism spends more on prisons than they do on higher education.

agree with that, so long as you have time to hold those properties....

I can't believe how bad Tampa did. NY and Texas have some of the strongest.

Florida sucks, always has and always will. It is the cesspool of the country, cultureless, non-progressive, archaic, low wage state. Can't wait to get out of this dam place.

It's sad for this great state :/
The problem is the housing..It must recover strongly and Florida will rebound strongly. This state must get rid of this dependence to the housing with a more diversified economy (create a solar energy industry, the potential is huge...Why not the finance and the retail trade in investing in ports ?).This state will rebound I'm sure of that, but not before 2012 !

And as soon as you get back to Texas, you will be hollering "Texas sucks" like you did last time you moved there.

you're from TX and you're saying that? It's not TX is a big liberal, high-wage mecca or something.

I'm waiting until next year to start shopping for homes. I think better quality homes and a better value will be hitting the market soon. Unfortunately, I don't think Florida is quite at its bottom yet. I think it has another 7% or so to drop. This is merely a hunch and speculation I have no hard facts/info to back up my hunch.

This gives me plenty of time to find the perfect house at the right price for my family.
