Would you consider St. Pete to be safer than Daytona? Job prospects?

Like any city, it depends on what part of town you would live in in regards to safety. As far as St. Pete goes, the main unsafe neighborhood is "midtown" which is just south of downtown (someone else can probably give you the exact boundaries. Job prospects should be better here just by virtue of the fact you are close to Tampa, a larger city. Daytona is not really the most booming area, and while I know you liked it while you were there, the majority of people who post here do not think highly of that town. But, these things are subjective.

What type of job are you looking for?

I would be looking for bartending or serving jobs, so I don't think it will be too hard of a problem.

I would second St Pete over Daytona Beach. The gay/gay friendly areas of St Pete are Kenwood, Round Lake, Old Southeast, The Jungle/Tyrone Square and Old Northeast. Generally anything south of 5th Avenue South is to be avoided except for the pockets of Old Southeast, Roser Park, Bahama Shores, parts of Lakewood Estates and the southern tip of the peninsula (Pinellas Point). Between Downtown St Pete (most recommended), Clearwater and St Pete Beach (plus the other neighboring beach communities), you should have plenty of work options in terms of restaurant jobs.

JMO, but I would pick St. Pete. It has a WAAAAAY better downtown. I personally do not care for Clearwater. I don't like the downtown or the congested beaches. Just my perspective, however.

St Pete is a more vibrant city and is gay/alternative friendly. obviously,Clearwater puts you closer to the beach.
