im coming down in jan. to look at a few places to move to my wife wants to look in and around melbourn.we are retired and on a fixed income,so we are looking to spend around 120,000 to 150,000.we really dont want to be to close to the beach,about 1/2 hour or so is good.also can someone tell me about insurance such as flood,hurricane,sink hole,and so on.also how are the banks down there about there foreclosures,do they except bids or are they stuck on what they are asking.

If you wanna be near the beach and dont have a ton of money... Try looking in Titusville, lots of foreclosures... its pretty close to melbourne..

Alternatively you could look at Palm Coast or Flagler Beach... Both smaller places, but cheaper.

I'd recommend Palm Coast also, though Titusville is a good choice in terms of budget. Palm Coast has much more access to stores/restaurants/services where Titusville has suffered with not a whole lot in that department, most noticeably with the very dead Miracle City Mall. Additionally Palm Coast is planned and has very nice greenbelts with walking trails, etc where Titusville can be kind of depressed in some areas with lack of greenery and upkeep.

You could probably find places in west melbourne with that budget, you'd be 20 mins from the beach with plenty of shopping nearby.

i looked around titusville was not impressed,we liked flagger,and melbourn,melbourn looks like a nice place we will have to spend some time down there in jan.and check it out.

you said west melbourn,would that be west of rt 95.do you have any idea about insurance there ,such as flood,hurricane.
