I am so done with South FL. I moved to Miami from Chicago six years ago. I then came out to Lauderdale and have been here five years.

I want to live in a city, not a big suburb which is what Lauderdale really is IMO

Main thing, I want to be around more down to earth folks, and the main main thing is that I want to be in a city that is more economically successful.

South FL economy makes me sick. I don't want to do customer service for the rest of my life unless it's going to pay me better. South FL wages known to blow.

Which city would you choose?

Go back to Chicago. The south is full of overgrown suburbs.

Charlotte

Less Superficial? Almost any city will do except for possibly LA.

Better economy? I chose Charlotte because it keeps you somewhere with decent weather and a lot of companies are HQed in Charlotte.

Chicago has much more to offer than Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Not to mention the mass transit is a lot better!

No way I would ever go back to Chicago, that horridly cold, segregated, gang filled city of 7 months of grey skies. Yea certain parts are cool. Most parts suck. I'd rather stay in Lauderdale

I hate Charlotte with a passion. Worst traffic in the nation and worst strip mall sprawl maybe second only to Atlanta.

I'd try Charleston or Jacksonville.

^ He said he wanted to live in a 'big city" not a "big suburb" so why would you recommend Jacksonville of all places? If he thinks Ft. Lauderdale is a "overgrown suburb" Jax is ten times worse and there is no urbanity to speak of.

There are plenty of none customer service jobs here. Maybe. I'm not sure but maybe your qualifications aren't up for other ones. I dont mean that in a degradng way, everyone has their expertise. I couldn't become a carpenter or a port crane operator even though I have more formal education than those people. Not easy jobs at all.

Anyway you probably want to move back to Chicago then. Or maybe Minneapolis? I'm trying to think of more down to earth places.

Want sucessful economy move to North Daktoa!

May I ask what type of job do you want? What do you think you want to do or are qualified to do? That would probably help figuring out where to go.
