The Space Coast has been a go to destination for certain high-skill manufacturing and engineering jobs. Looks like CNN finally recognized this. Pretty good companion cities on the list.... DC, Detroit, Boston, Seattle etc.

Looking for a good job? Try these cities - Feb. 3, 2015

Palm Bay, Fla., with its proximity to Cape Canaveral, is home to several aerospace companies as well as makers of audio and visual equipment -- an outgrowth of the navigational and communications equipment used in space travel.

The pay is good -- $90,000 a year on average -- and the growth rates high. These advanced industries have been adding jobs at nearly twice the rate of the overall economy since 2010.

This is good news for the Space Coast. That area was really devastated when NASA ended the Shuttle program. I wonder if the private sector has replaced all the jobs that were lost?

It's getting there. Lots of private sector companies like SpaceX and Boeing are getting government grants now instead of that money going to NASA. Plus the defense and communications industries are alive and well in Melbourne between companies like GE, Rockwell Collins, Lockheed Martin, Harris and Northrup Grumman

Future of Space Coast big businesses...

The area wasn't nearly as "devastated" as the outside world was led to believe. Rockets were (still are, BTW) launching steadily the whole time the media was decrying the end of the shuttle program. Economy is vibrant and we look forward to the next phase of locally launched manned space vehicles which have already begun test flights.
