Hi! My husband and I recently relocated to Pennsylvania from NC. We are planning on moving to Florida within the next two years. He is going into the automechanic and diesel industry, as well as marine mechanics. I am entering into the medical field. I've visited Florida several times but I know nothing about the state besides the typical tourist towns. We would have to relocate to a town near where my parents can transfer their job to.
The job locations are:
Lakeland
Ft Lauderdale
Frostproof
Ft Meyers
Orlando
Jacksonville
Miami
Ocala
Doral
Ocoee
Tampa
West palm beach

We are in our late 20s with a toddler and one on the way. Our max for a home is 150k, but we will most likely rent at the beginning. We prefer to have some bit of land for the kids to play in, and it would be a plus if we can be within an hour from a beach. We don't like the city life and would prefer a smaller town. If anyone can recommend a great, safe town with a great school system that is near any of those places, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Check out Fernandina Beach and Yulee which are just north of Jacksonville near the Georgia state line. Nassau County's schools are ranked #2 in the state out of 67 school districts and both towns offer a good selection of homes when ready in the sub 150K range in generally safe neighborhoods. The beautiful beaches of Amelia Island are an easy drive too (less than 30 minutes).

Thank you I will check those out! I'm not sure if High Springs is anywhere near one of those cities, but how is that town?

It's not near either. It's a rural small town in the middle of the state about 90 minutes from the coast/beach.
It has one elementary school which is ranked 858th in Florida which doesn't sound very promising...

Check out Palm Coast/Flagler Beach. They have homes in your price range and are close to the beach with good schools/safe neighborhoods to choose from.

I would look into the Orlando area. I think it will give you a great quality of life. It's one of the more desirable parts of Florida without the South Florida prices. You could look around the Lake Mary area. Enjoy and good luck!
