Rubio is a RINO.

Why are so many Republicans down here so moderate for, especially SEFL? Some of these Republicans we have down here would be considered moderate democrats where I'm from, Missouri.

They hardly ever introduce radical bills, especially when it comes to guns and abortion. While states pass permit less carry, Florida gives us a $5 reduction in ccw permit fees!

BTW, I've asked for a mod review of this thread, just to be on the safe side. I hope we can all play nice and they keep it in this forum, because it is Florida's future that we're discussing here.

One thing I can say about Morgan: his company runs ads regularly for intake specialists. Nothing wrong with that, but I can guarantee you that if you worked for his firm and put on a performance like he did at that bar, you'd be out the door so fast your head would swim.

Lol, nobody's perfect.

I'll run.

I've got some great ideas that would work.
For starters, stop developing on every vacant square inch.

2A Make suppressors at the state level no different than purchasing a pistol or rifle.
Push for campus carry.
Push for conditional open carry.
Push a firearms safety course in grade school and possibly a marksmanship program middle-highschool. Give the CA and NY libs a reason to stay put. Oh gawd they teach kids firearm safety run away while turning your nose up! Kids that know they aren't toys and the allure being removed, won't be tempted to play with them... creates a sense of responsibility.

Bring some real industry in here. I know a few high ups in BIG production companies that if given a better deal than what they're getting in NY they'll take and transform the economy fromantic Tropicana tourism and Disney to tech and production...
Big $$$ and lots of good paying jobs for locals. Opposed to another Walmart Aldi gas station fast food joint or car dealership.

Work on developing a program that teaches whoever designs and pave roads, to do so properly...

Environmental and land
Algae issue, obviously the army corps of engineers is clueless. Dredge it filter it hire an engineering firm that knows what they're doing to clean that crap up.
As stated before, stop the urban sprawl and the incessant need to build on every vacant square inch here.
Open areas up for atvs dirtbikes, enter at your own risk. Nobody is responsible or babysitting you.
Open a few public shooting ranges.
As far as solar. Get it. Don't expect your neighbor to subsidize the cost of it...

Health care.
It's really simple.
Be the first state to defy the ACA completely.
Audit hospitals chargemaster. Compare to what actual costs are of everything from Tylenol to chemo. Work with hospitals to still remain profitable. They won't have to pay any taxes. No such thing as out of network costs. You live here, are a resident here. You are going to have affordable health insurance and if you STILL can't afford it, go move to a blue state if you want it, or go without it, and work to fight the extortion of citizens who couldn't afford it against the federal government, just hope we don't get a widow maker of a hurricane.

I'd also work a deal... use prison labor in areas of skilled labor, as part of rehabilitation. Get any road repairs done quicker. Learn a trade while in the slammer. Time will be served and you will leave with a sense of pride hey see that road, I helped pave it, see that bridge I helped build it. See that house, I painted that.
That way they're not returning to crime and drugs...

I would, since I'm neutral on it, legalize pot. For medicinal and recreational use.
I would have law enforcement treat it the same as alcohol.

No big pharmaceutical companies shall have a role in the medicinal side.
I would require a license to farm and harvest it. Dept of Agriculture will be there to make sure soil samples are taken to ensure the stuff isn't treated with chemicals. All natural. No pesticides herbicides etc. Allow 3-5 plants per residence, whether you use it or not.
For recreational use-the pot will have to be cured and dried properly. I knew a kid who did in fact die of a strain of mold that grew in wet stuff he was allergic to penicillin and the first time was his last. Set standards on it. Age of 21. 0 tolerance policy of driving high. Cops smell weed. You're doomed if you've been smoking. If you took edibles. Refusing a field sobriety test would lead to a blood test.
As for taxing it, I would place a tax. Not an ultra hefty tax. I would place at most a 15% tax on the sale of it. But raise the tax on out of staters. oh sure come down here on spring break, or to retire and toke it up... not until you're a resident.

Basically. I really hate NY Chuck Schumer Commissar Andy Cuomo and Kirsten Gillibrand especially.

And want to steal all the business from NY and watch it capitulate, and bring good paying careers here.

OTOH, he, like many other Bush supporters, have never acknowledged the wrongness of the military action in Iraq that has turned much of the ME into a slaughterhouse. Never admitted it was based on manufactured information. He's never apologized for voting for it, or at least admitted that he was deceived. In fact, he's continued to adamantly assert his support for it.

4) And then there's the disgusting mess that's been made of Okeechobee, the Everglades and the waterways, due to his failure to rein in Big Sugar.
1) Now we have a club.

2) Some, but probably only among the young and restless. Yes, it's fun, but not serious.

3) As citizens of Florida, not much we can do about US foreign policy, even if I agree that Iraq was disgusting; at any rate, I wouldn't wield my vote based on that. Much more significant is that, as your rep, he and/or people in his office successfully helped you with a real life problem that touched you within hand's reach.

4) Another real issue that maybe citizens of Florida can actually do something about. I, for one, have stopped consuming refined sugar since more than three years now. If we all did that, not only would we all be healthier, and help rein in Big Pharma, we would rein in Big Sugar too.

What do you think?

And stop pretending global warming is debatable. It exists and we need to do something about it... unlike the reality tv star running survivor with the white house staff right now

Yes, I usually judge a politician for whom I'm going to vote based on the actions of their staffers, if they've previously been in office, because it is important to be able to get service when it is needed. I've always found Nelson's office to be quite responsive in the past, although it seems to have become somewhat dismissive recently when I approached them about an issue.

In the case of Putnam, though, my little problem pales in comparison to the damage done in the Middle East, which he supported and continues to support. It's the unrepentant attitude that gets to me. And again, that Big Sugar debacle is beyond gross as far as the state is concerned. Even Crist, as much as he may be a weasel, said something to the effect that Florida is a somewhat attractive state and it's important that it be kept that way. (Interesting how he used the word "somewhat").

It's pretty hot here right now and usually is for at least six months. Imagine Florida with oil rigs three miles from shore on the gulf, and the residue washing up on the beaches, combining with the red tide caused by runoff. Imagine much of the state affected by the waste from Big Sugar and other enterprises. Add in over development. Combine all that with the heat and you've got Florida drowning in a hot, toxic brew because business should be allowed to do whatever it wants, when it wants. No thanks.

Chopsie (may I call you Chopsie?), what are your thoughts about who would win a gubernatorial race? Who do you think would win? I'm interested in what my fellow Floridians think on this matter.

Mr. Nelson is getting up in years and this may be his last term. He would have made a decent president, alas!

As for the so-called middle east, the only concrete suggestion I can make is to trade in military (defense - sic) stocks, such as LMT, NOC, RTN, and make the best for yourself out of a bad situation.

I really don't see what Mr. Putnam has to do with it; we all have mouths.

Good Luck!

Haven't really been following it considering the dysfunctional one man show in the WH keeps the press in overdrive, but I really do believe Crist would NOT win considering his political baggage and flipflopping

Yep, Crist wanted that Senate seat so bad he'd do just about anything, including turning his back on JEB!, on whose coattails he rode to governor. JEB! was more or less trying to dictate who would do what, sort of the godfather of Florida politics, no? JEB wanted him to run for a second term as gov and Rubio for Senate. Charlie was not too happy and "got above himself".

Putnam's been a Boosh loyalist, knows his place, served his time in the House, took his place as head of Agriculture for Florida (HECKuva job with that green slime, I must say), go for governor and eventually, Senate. I'm sure that's the planned path.
