My husband will be starting work at Moffitt soon and so we are looking for a place to live. We are moving from Seminole county and have 3 kids. Elementary and high school. Please advise on what places to consider. I hear carollwood, New Tampa and Wesley Chapel, although I am concerned about the Pasco county schools. We would love a community that is active, i.e. Bike paths, joggers, open air markets. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Your criteria and need for good schools points toward South Tampa in my opinion, if it fits your price range. The school district is the best in Tampa with Plant HS (one of the top HS in FL) and three "A" rated elementary schools plus an easy commute to Moffitt.

Thank you Kyle19125! I really appreciate it! I understand that traffic is going to troublesome in most of tampa, partly due to the stoplights. Something we will have to get used to I guess. What zip code would I be looking at for South Tampa?
Thank you BucFan. I will look for that subforum!

The primary zip codes in South Tampa are 33629 and 33611 along with 33606 which encompasses most of the Hyde Park area.

Thank you! The schools are a bit of a concern, but it looks like the Plant HS homes might be a little out of our price range. Some people are suggesting the new home communities being built all around Tampa, but I don't think Pasco county is the way to go

Then you might consider Palm Harbor-East Lake in Northern Pinellas County if your husband is okay with a 40-45 minute commute, which would probably be likely as well from the Northern Hillsborough County/Pasco County options some others might suggest. East Lake High School and Palm Harbor University High School are both great choices and the vast majority of elementary schools in the area are quite good as well. Personally I would recommend the East Lake district as it's housing is newer and less traffic congested overall.

If your husband will work at Moffitt, 33647 is the closest safe area you want to look into. Good luck with your move!
