I second the Astor, FL area. Lake George is really great fishing, and you're only an hour if you want to go out from Ponce Inlet for salt water fishing.

Sumter county - Lake Pan is almost famous for Bass Fishing

Umatilla (Lake County) - Lake Yale, pretty rural

Haines City (Polk County) - Lake Marion, little rural, and cheaper

Kissimmee (Osceola County) - Lake Toho, famous lake, many bass tournaments on this lake, but expensive

Weirsdale (Marion county) - Lake Weir and Lake Griffin, probably your best choice. Land is a little cheaper here, and you in shouting distance of several good lakes. It is also somewhat rural

Lake County. Astatula, Howey-in-the-hills, Yahala, Tavares, Eustis, Umatilla. Check them out. I have lived in Lake County for 40 years. Love it.

Yes. And Lake Harris. There are also smaller lakes everywhere. Lots of gators too.
