^^^Part of Florida history contains the industry of cattle ranching and the "crack" of the whip that the ranchers used. That's what the company's name refers to.

Maybe it is like the words hillbilly, briar, or gringo. It's meaning differs from innocuous to insulting depending on whether you sneer as you say it or not.
