Yes some City Managers do come and go but he has been doing a GREAT job for 14 years!

I don't personally believe in someone doing what he is doing but who are we to judge someone for their sexual preference. I am so sick of people judging other people, whether it be for race, sex, religion. All this is about is a bunch of people judging someone elses life...they too will be judged some day for their actions!

I agree completely, but my point was. He doesn't need to be a marter, he needs to get on with his life. If he lets himself fall under the manipulation of someone with a cause he will ruin any future he has for the 15 minutes of fame he may achieve. The laws are in place and his case would not be precedent setting, these cases have already been argued.

Even if he has been terminated unfairly, he will walk with a nice piece of money. Some fights are not worth fighting and in this case his situation is not new, it has been a topic of controversy for years. It has come up with teachers and I think even military people. He can only lose and become unemployable in the future. Like I said, he doesn't need to be a marter.

ancnie beat me to it

here's a link page detailing the saga...

Yeah, hopefully he moves on gracefully to another job. I can understand the reasoning for a fight, but I think it would put him in a more favorable light to just accept their decision. After all, this is Largo, FL... not SF or NYC. This place is not exactly "progressive" with all the retirees here. lol

Its very simple to me..If Mr. so-called Smith wants to now be called..Mrs. so-called Smith, great! If theres a job well done and this person has gained the respect he/she deserves and it sounds like he/she has, definately allow the person to stay. I would probably take a mild 10 day vacation to regroup, buy some new clothes and then jump back into work. That way it wont be woman one day, man the next. J/K..seriously there should be no questions asked. Personal preference, its not hurting anyone.

Lightbulb Sex change prompts alimony fight

Here is another case: In a case that could set precedent for transgendered individuals, a Seminole man asked a Pinellas circuit judge Tuesday to set aside his alimony requirements because his ex-wife is now a man.

It's a sad state of affairs when THIS sort of trivial, none-of-people's business, doesn't affect job performance factors can get you fired!!

I personally think they should try to sue based on sex discrimination grounds. Sometimes good people that have bad things happen to them by others can be catalysts for change if they are willing to be martyrs.

Lightbulb Fired transsexual Largo city manager a finalist for Sarasota job

He is going strong: The Largo city manager who was fired after revealing his plans to have a sex change is among six finalists for the same job in Sarasota, the city said Tuesday.

The finalists for the Sarasota job will be vetted in a series of public appearances and interviews on May 29 and 30.

The Largo City Commission voted 5-2 in February and again in March to fire ***** from the $140,000-a-year job he held for 14 years. Making excellent money.....

While I wholeheartedly support his desire to change genders, it would seem his focus is elsewhere, not on his job.
